38 Class Update

Whilst at the factory I saw painted body samples for all liveries of the 38 class. They looked superb. I couldn't bring them back with me so the factory has put them on Fedex and I have received advice that they will be delivered Monday.
We will check the liveries and assuming they are correct forward our approval to the factory so that when the factory resumes production after Chinese New Year painting and then assembly can commence. This would suggest a delivery date sometime in March or April.
I will put photographs on the web-site as soon as they can be arranged.

At last they are creeping closer. You must be relieved that this project is finally reaching its end

I certainly am. I have just checked the records and find the quote for the 38 was dated August, 2004 and of more relevence, tooling commenced in September, 2005. We did have a problem that had to be fixed and which added six months to the project but even so you would have to say 3 years plus was par for the course for a steam engine.

Hi Ron,

Glad to hear the 38s are progressing & we should have them in our hot little hands relativley soon.
Can you advise if you will be posting any sound samples for the 38 (and 40cl) to your web site?

Cheers Alex...

So we can expect 38's to be for sale at the 2009 Brisbane Train Show in May?

I certainly hope so.

Ron,

How did the check of the paint schemes go? All OK I hope and they should be back after their holidays about now. Hope all is go.

With a bit of luck towards the end of April you might be able to ship out. I bet that is not something you are looking forward to. Well in one way you would want the things sent out, but it's just the pain of the packing and posting I was thinking of.

Best regards,
John

Hi Ron,

What sort of gap between delivery do you expect for sound and non-sound models. Or will they be delivered together?

The sound files for the 38 have been released by QSI to the manufacturer and so I expect the sound and non-sound units to arrive together.
